Cuttlefish Casting

Saturday 28 April, 10:30am–3:30pm
with Master Silversmith Clare Layton
£75.00 per person
Suitable for ages 16 and over

Cuttlefish Casting a method of gravity casting without the use of centrifugal force. The technique is an ancient one, typical of the way an Anglo-Saxon might have cast jewellery for kings and important people of their time. It has survived through to today and although it is cruder than the lost wax method, it is surprising how much detail can be impressed and reproduced in metal.
