Designed to focus and expand on participants drawing, painting and colour skills whilst also working towards developing a personal style. Mediums employed will include graphite, charcoal, a variety of paints and pen and ink. As well as practical work, sessions will include discussion, demonstration and presentation.

Jewellery: Project Based (Monday pm)

Designed with the needs of those who already have some experience of jewellery making and silversmithing techniques in mind. Whilst our other courses tend to focus on more general approaches, in these sessions you will be guided towards the completion of self-initiated projects, supporting the development of personal styles and individual creative techniques.

A creative beginners course with industry experienced jeweller Alexandra Smith. During this course students will learn to create simple decorated studs, a pendant, twisted wire rings, hand-made chains with an introduction to enameling skills. Students will be tutored from small projects set by the tutor through to initiating their own designs and production.

Over ten weeks, participants will cover a range of basic ceramic techniques including coiling, slab work, use of moulds and glazing, working towards the use of the potter’s wheel. Join illustrator Thomas Cuthbertson in a ten week course navigating your way through playful exercises and set projects. Exploring interactive approaches to communicating visually, while defining a starting point to develop your own visual language and illustrative style. You will be encouraged to keep a sketch book diary of research and findings, using field notes to further investigate and define your own practice. Voicing thoughts and sharing visuals is also encouraged. This course is 30% theory based.

Join artist Chantelle Stephenson in a ten week course experimenting with the possibilities of materials and textures, creating a new visual vocabulary and series of contemporary sculptures. Students are encouraged to develop self-initiated themes, whilst studying and creating Henry Moore inspired ceramic ware and Phyllida Barlow styled painterly pieces. You will be encouraged to keep a sketch book diary of research and findings as the course develops towards creating a sculptural artwork in the final weeks. This course is 30% theory based.
