A Supportive Conversation with Dr Esther Aslan: Mental Health and Arts Participation – Best Practice

Wednesday 12 June 2024, 10am – 11.30am
Milton Keynes Arts Centre, Great Linford, Parklands MK145DZ

Since the 2020 pandemic, poor mental health has been on the rise. It is now suggested that one in four people in the UK will experience a mental health disorder each year. With pressure upon the health services to meet demand, more and more people are turning to the arts as a way to reduce stress, lower anxiety levels, improve mood and create a space for social connection. The arts have a valuable role to play in supporting mental health, but are artists equipped to deal with the specific challenges involved?

In this, the second of four ‘Supportive Conversations’ in 2024, Milton Keynes Arts Centre in partnership with Arts for Health Milton Keynes invite professional participatory artists working in creative health to meet Milton Keynes-based educational and child psychologist, Dr. Esther Aslan. Esther Aslan will use ‘best practice’ to working with adults and children experiencing poor mental health as the conversation starting point.

This session is free but booking is essential as places are limited.

Please RSVP by Wednesday 5 June 2024. to fiona@miltonkeynesartscentre.org

The conversations will continue at the same time and place on Wednesday 18 September and Wednesday 4 December; please save the dates.
